ADVENTURE PARTICIPATION
Do I need to be super fit to join?

No. Our adventures are designed for everyday fitness enthusiasts. If you train regularly with your Studio, you’ll be in good shape to enjoy the trip.

What if I’m not fit enough today but want to train towards it?

That’s fantastic and absolutely what we’d love. This adventure can become your motivation to train. We’ll give you a clear goal to work towards, and your Studio trainers will help you prepare step by step.

Do I need any previous mountain experience?

Not at all. You just need a sense of adventure and a willingness to take part.

Is there a minimum or maximum age to join?

Generally, 18+ for individuals. Younger family members may be able to join, depending on the adventure - just ask us.

If I have a disability or injury, can I still take part?

Many people can, but it depends on the nature of the adventure and your needs. Contact us to discuss, and we’ll advise honestly.

PRACTICAL DETAILS
How long are the adventures?

Adventures can range from 3 days to over a week. Ultimately, it depends on what you tell us you’re looking for.

When do the adventures take place?

Generally during the UK’s summer and autumn, though we also arrange adventures in places such as Africa during the winter (southern hemisphere summer).

Where are the adventures based?

Mostly in the Swiss Alps, but also the French Alps, Italian Alps and further afield such as the Atlas Mountains in Morocco and Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

Can I bring a friend or family member who isn’t part of the Studio?

Yes. Adventures are open to members, their families, and friends.

How many people will be in the group?

Groups are usually 8–12 people. Small enough to stay personal, large enough to build great energy.

Who will be guiding us, and what qualifications do they have?

All trips are led by qualified International Mountain Leaders — a professional qualification recognised as degree-equivalent (EQF Level 6) on the European framework.

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD & SUPPORT
What kind of accommodation can I expect?

Mostly charming but simple mountain hotels and traditional alpine huts (also known as mountain refuges or cabanes). Think comfortable, simple, and authentic but this is not 5 star. On hut-to-hut adventures, it’s often the case that we’ll be sharing rooms in charming high-mountain refuges (sometimes 2 persons to a room, sometimes 4 persons and sometimes a larger dormitory environment. When in the valleys, we have more accommodation flexibility.

Can dietary needs (allergies, vegan, gluten-free, etc.) be catered for?

Yes. Let us know your requirements in advance, and we’ll work with the accommodation providers to make sure you’re looked after.

What support will Mountain Coach provide before and during the trip?

We handle the logistics, guiding, and preparation advice so you can focus on training and enjoying the adventure. We also act as a feedback loop with your Studio, so they can support you in closing any fitness gaps that we or you may identify on the UK-based conditioning/preparation days.

COSTS & COMMITMENTS
How much will it cost?

It totally depends on the adventure we bespoke for you, based on what you tell us you want. Typically, for a 3-day with 4 nights adventure, it would start at around £1100 per person, but it depends on the location, duration, route, accommodation type and other factors. Exact pricing will be shared once we have tailored the adventure to your hopes, dreams and abilities.

What does the price include and exclude?

The price includes: professional guiding, accommodation, all meals, and preparation/conditioning days in the British mountains. It also covers pre-departure advice and support via your adventure WhatsApp group, where you can get help at any time from sign-up through to departure.
The price excludes: flights, transfers, personal insurance, alcohol, and anything you decide to buy beyond the meals.

Will I need insurance?

Yes, travel insurance that covers mountain activities is required.

What happens if I book but then need to cancel?

Once you have secured your place with a deposit, that deposit is non-refundable. The final balance is typically due 60 days before the Alpine Adventure starts. If you cancel before the 60-day payment deadline, you will only lose the deposit.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Is it safe?

Safety is our top priority, and our guides are trained to manage and mitigate mountain risks to the extent feasible. As with any adventurous activity, there is a risk of personal injury or, in rare cases, death. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks. These adventures are not climbing trips — they’re hiking adventures — but adverse weather, rockfall, or other hazards can still occur.

What equipment will I need to bring?

A kit list will be provided in advance. It’s mostly standard outdoor clothing and footwear — no specialist climbing gear required as we’re hiking.

How does Mountain Coach work with the Studio to prepare me?

Mountain Coach and your Studio work closely together from adventure selection through to training and preparation. The Studio provides the physical training support, while Mountain Coach gives you the adventure plan, conditioning days in the UK mountains, preparation guidance, and expert leadership on the adventure. Together, we help you get ready for a truly unforgettable challenge.

How big is the commitment before the trip?

Most members already train enough with their Studio to be adventure-ready. After the UK mountain prep day(s), you may just need to tweak your focus. Newer or less frequent trainers might add some extra cardio or endurance. Everyone should do a few long summer walks with a rucksack in the months before the trip (and we provide ideas for walking routes in your area). We’ll also give you a kit list, prep tips, and guidance via your adventure WhatsApp group so you feel ready and supported.
